Apprenticeships are being placed in a central role for supporting the recovery of the UK economy in a post- Covid-19 pandemic world.
Businesses are being offered financial incentives to support young people starting apprenticeships. From 1st August 2020 to 31st January 2021, any firm that hires a new apprentice aged 16 to 24 will receive £2,000, while those that hire new apprentices aged 25 and over will be paid £1,500. The government already provides £1,000 to employers who hire 16-18 year olds on apprenticeships schemes or those under 25 with an Education, Health and Care plan and these payments will continue alongside the new incentives (please see the Gov.uk A Plan For Jobs for more information).
Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, explained “We know apprenticeships work. Ninety-one per cent stay in work or go on to further training. For the next six months we are going to pay employers to create new apprenticeships.”
Harper Adams offers a number of high quality, industry-supported degree apprenticeships and now is a fantastic time to recruit an apprentice for our next intake starting in September 2020.
We specialise in supporting the food industry to train degree apprentices as Food & Drink Engineers and Food Industry Technical Professionals, supporting apprentices to work 30 hours or more a week and achieve their degree apprenticeship part-time over five years. Degree apprenticeships also extend to the development of managers and leaders with our two year Senior Leader (Food Industry Management) degree apprenticeship.
Surveying firms regionally and nationally have taken on Rural Chartered Surveyor degree apprentices to upskill their firms and support apprentices to attain accredited professional status from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Our five year degree apprenticeship offers a route to RICS accreditation with apprentices beginning their journey to Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) from Year 3.
